The Recipe for Success: Role Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for advanced financial accounting, reporting, audit readiness and statutory compliance for assigned entities. The role owns the review of the books, ensures high-quality month-end and year-end closing, prepares and reviews statutory accounts, supports budget preparation, maintains internal controls, and applies strong IFRS expertise together with knowledge of Swiss Code of Obligations (SCO). The role also cooperates closely with the tax department on tax calculations, tax requirements, tax audits and social insurance audits.

Ingredients: Key Responsibilities

  • Own and review the accounting books for assigned entities, ensuring completeness, accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.

  • Prepare, review and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial

  • Reports for management and Group reporting purposes.

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed assets and other key accounting entries.

  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, intercompany balances and key General Ledger accounts, following up on aged or unusual items.

  • Support the preparation and review of statutory accounts, ensuring alignment with Swiss Code of Obligations requirements and consistency with underlying accounting records.

  • Act as a technical accounting reference for IFRS matters, including accounting treatment analysis, documentation and communication with Group Accounting where required.

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting, including evidence of review, segregation of duties, approval flows and audit trail quality.

  • Act as the key point of contact for external auditors, provide clear explanations and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

  • Prepare, coordinate and consolidate budget inputs, including supporting assumptions and variance analysis.

  • Cooperate with the tax department on tax calculations, tax reporting requirements, tax provisions and supporting documentation.

  • Support tax  and  social insurance audits  by preparing reconciliations, schedules, transaction evidence and responses.

  • Monitor compliance with company policies, local legal requirements and Group accounting instructions.

The Perfect Blend:
What We’re Looking For

  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting, General Ledger, closing processes, reporting, audit preparation and statutory accounts with 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Strong IFRS expertise, including ability to assess accounting treatments and prepare clear technical documentation.

  • Good knowledge of Swiss Code of Obligations (SCO) and statutory financial statement preparation requirements.

  • Solid understanding of internal controls over financial reporting, audit trails, review evidence and segregation of duties.

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and management reporting.

  • Working knowledge of tax calculations, tax provisions, VAT/corporate tax support and cooperation with tax departments or external tax advisors.

  • Understanding of payroll-related accounting and documentation needs for social insurance audits is a plus.

  • Experience with ERP systems, reporting tools and process improvement; experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 is a plus..

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, Swiss certified specialist, Chartered Accountant or equivalent is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines across closing, reporting, statutory accounts, budget preparation and audits.
