We’re looking for someone who’ll bring the right ingredients to our kitchen, blending resilience, creativity, collaboration and integrity, all simmered together to support exceptional financial delivery.
Skills & Qualifications — Essential Ingredients
Experience: Deep, slow‑simmered experience in financial reporting, assurance and compliance, ideally within a complex, fast‑paced organisation. Your background includes delivering high‑quality Group reporting, statutory accounts, and external compliance obligations — all while maintaining strong relationships with auditors, internal stakeholders and cross‑functional teams. You’re confident working under high heat, balancing precision with commercial awareness, and navigating multiple reporting cycles with ease.
Education: A recognised finance qualification (ACA or equivalent) with substantial post‑qualification experience and up‑to‑date expertise in UK GAAP and IFRS.
Tools of the Trade: Mastery of accounting standards, strong organisational and planning skills, robust control understanding, and the ability to interpret complex financial information with accuracy and clarity. You’re comfortable managing audits, coordinating risk and control frameworks, and ensuring every reporting “dish” is prepared flawlessly and on time.
Special Sauces: Signature flavours include personal credibility, integrity and professionalism — the essential ingredients for influencing senior leaders and acting as a trusted advisor. You blend strong technical judgement with commercial understanding, ensuring decisions are balanced, sound and aligned to business goals. Your resilience, energy and commitment mean you thrive even during intense reporting seasons.
Project Management: Ability to juggle multiple pans at once, managing Group audits, statutory filings, compliance deadlines, internal audit remediation, and balance sheet assurance — all while keeping stakeholders aligned. You prioritise effectively, understand when to delegate and when to take the lead, and deliver projects with precision and consistency across varied timelines
Communication: Communicate with clarity, confidence and authority. Whether speaking with auditors, senior leadership, Group finance or Exec‑level stakeholders, you adapt your style to the audience and present complex issues in a way that is both digestible and influential. Your strong interpersonal skills help you build trust and partnerships across every corner of the business.
Problem-Solving: When the recipe goes wrong, you know how to fix it. Bringing a technically robust, solution‑oriented mindset — essential for navigating accounting judgements, risk assessments, and compliance challenges. You can diagnose issues quickly, propose balanced solutions and maintain the integrity of financial reporting while supporting commercial needs. Your attention to detail ensures no ingredient is ever overlooked.
Presentation: Comfortable presenting technical matters, reporting insights, and accounting positions at SLT, Board, and senior executive forums. You establish yourself as the subject‑matter expert, communicating with authority while keeping complexity accessible and relevant
Speed: Ability to work efficiently and with discipline across multiple reporting cycles — from quarterly and half‑year submissions to annual statutory accounts and compliance deadlines. Even when the kitchen is at full heat, you maintain quality, accuracy, and composure, ensuring nothing is rushed but everything is timely.
